It’s officially time to get Gucci for DiNucci.
Dallas Cowboys rookie QB Ben DiNucci will get the start for America’s Team on Sunday Night Football against the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Cowboys listed Andy Dalton as doubtful on Friday officially opening the door the 7th round draft pick out of James Madison to make his first NFL start.
DiNucci will be quarterbacking a Cowboys team that will be fighting for first place on Sunday night against Carson Wentz and the Eagles.
Several Cowboys players, including WR Michael Gallup, have been encouraged from what they have seen from DiNucci in practice this week with Gallup saying, via Calvin Watkins of Dallas Morning News,
“He’s been slinging that thing. He’s been slinging that thing. He’s been good.”
The Cowboys, 2-5, have been ravaged with injury at the quarterback position after Dak Prescott had his season ended with an ankle injury and Dalton missing this week’s action with a concussion.
DiNucci came in relief for Dalton last week against the Washington Football Team and went 2 of 3 for 39 yards but was sacked 3 times in a 25-3 road loss.
The Cowboys rookie saying of his preparation this week via Jori Epstein of USA Today,
“This is everyone’s childhood dream, right? The chance to be the starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys. What more could you want? For me, this is an opportunity of a lifetime.”
Yes it is Ben, yes it is.
